Skywatch Friday

This is an oldie.  I'm using it to get this post up so people can "find" me.  I used to be Lisa's Garden Adventure, but I accidentally permanently deleted that blog.  I though I was deleting something else.  This one is still under construction.

Golden Gate Bridge
Did you know it spans the Golden Gate Strait?

Please come back, my regular weekly posts will be here now.  Tomorrow, Saturday, Shadow Shot Sunday will be up with a Mister Linky for you to join in with a shadow photo.  Come give it a try!

Have a nice weekend.

  1. No worries! Will frequent this blog as it's going to be as wonderful as the accidentally deleted one!
    Cheers!

    1. Many years old, but I doubt the view has changed much, even the trees wouldn't have grown much. I hope they weren't cut down! It's a picturesque bridge.

    1. I can't believe I was so careless not to notice which blog I was signed into!

  5. Accidentally deleting your blog is huge. Sorry to hear that happened. On a trip decades ago I was surprised to find the Golden Gate Bridge was not golden. :)

    1. No, it's always a reddish color. International Orange is the color. The original steel had red lead primer, so they went with that. The strait's name came before the bridge, in 1846. Nothing to do with CA being the Golden State either! That was because of the Gold Rush.

  6. Oh no! I wonder if there's a way to retrieve your old posts.

    1. No, there isn't. A few are on the Internet Archive, but only a page or two saved per year. Once I hit "Permanently Delete" all the info was removed from Google's servers.

  7. I was surprised to learn the Golden Gate Bridge was as young as it is. I thought it way older, for some reason.

    1. The Bay Bridge (the original one) was completed just a year earlier. I have an old real photo postcard, or a photo sent as a post card, sent to my grandmother in 1936 showing the Bay Bridge being built. She lived in SF then, so I would guess she already knew about it!

  8. I love the bridge!! I think my wife and I went across it years ago during our honeymoon while on a wine country tour that we started in San Francisco.
Glad you are back. I've known a few people who deleted the blogs and started over. Sometimes I feel that my thousands of posts are some sort of archive, other times I feel the weight of them kind like Marley's chains in the Christmas Carol.

    1. They can weigh one down. I have all the photos elsewhere, so that's fine. For years I didn't even know how to change the font size, how to add captions or put photos in the middle, etc. No one ever read it, because I didn't go anywhere! The only post that seemed to matter out in Internet Land was about cherry tree nectar producing glands! Funny, the blog is gone, but searching brings up the info for that. At least the part you can see gives the words anyone can look up to find out what they are.
You probably did cross the Golden Gate. The Bay Bridge would have been the long way around to go to the Napa Valley.

  9. So sorry that you accidentally deleted your blog. If you had done a backup, perhaps you can get it back? Anyway, glad to see you back. This is mvmaithai (sent you some postcards), and I've just written 1 post this year :-(!

    1. Yes, I tend to ignore backups. I have backed up my other blog, the poetry one. I haven't downloaded it yet, have to get out the external hard drive, it will take a lot of space. And it is no where near as many posts as my deleted one was. I am enjoying the postcards! You may recognized them now and again when posted. Well, you can't see the past posts now... I keep forgetting.
One post is better than zero! I see it was recently. I'll go back and read it.
