Well, the weather changed!  Suddenly.  Saturday night was 33°. Not quite freezing, but close enough.  It's been windy too, so much so I had to bring in the foam gravestones from the front yard Halloween display.  It's cold enough to haul out Mickey's blankie.  It's from St. Vincent de Paul (which I donated to on Saturday, but found nothing to buy).

I picked on nice Bonny Best tomato yesterday, the others probably won't have time to ripen.  You know, you can pull out tomato plants and hang them upside down in a sheltered place and the fruit will ripen!

This is Pixie-Cup Lichen.

Nearly ready for whatever I decide to get for the area where the deck was.  Probably decomposed granite, if only to get something there before the rainy weather.  I'll of course get rid of the plastic!

I edged what will be that area in rocks.  I had to use the claw end of a hammer (don't worry, it's a cheap hammer, I know how to use the good ones properly!) to chip away the hard-packed soil to set the rocks.  The mulchy stuff is actually just the rotted deck framing!  Some of the pier blocks need to be removed, they stick up too high.

The grocery store fancy dog treat case has Halloween and Thanksgiving treats.  Mickey's only had them twice, as they are $2.49 each.

I posted a reel to Mickey's Instagram on his birthday, and one of his sister's people got hold of me!  His sister is so much like him!  Not in looks, she isn't one of the white with an eye patch pups, she's the smooth coated with large dark spots.   Her behavior, her personality, I guess.  She has anxiety.  Likes people, but not dogs.  Both of them at one point just out of the blue began refusing to get in the car!  Mickey is better with my son's car, which is a sedan, lower to jump into.  Although he's a big dog, fully capable of jumping into mine. Enjoys structure (Mickey likes what I call his routines).  I learned more about the litter as puppies.  They had a hard first few weeks, were malnourished, and fought over food.   I'm glad we messaged back and forth.  Now I know more about his past, and how his issue are not all due to his previous owners.  Although being returned after over four months in a home can't have helped.

Mickey is supposed to get an allergy shot later, but yesterday evening I started feeling a bit ill, cough and such.  So, by the time this posts I may have cancelled that appointment.

  1. Love Mickey's blanket. I do love a complicated cable knit.

  2. What breed is your pup. So cute! Or is he a mix? The former deck area looks like a big job, but you seem to be tackling it in stages which probably helps it feel less daunting.
