Thursday Postcard Hunt's Shapes theme ends this week with Irregular/Wavy postcards.

K9 Kitty, 2001. According to the reverse of the postcard, this shows "vegetable dye on Mindy, Siamese snowshoe cross." However, further research has shown it is digitally altered, no cats were dyed or painted at all. What a disappointment! One of the postcards in Why Cats Paint which unfortunately my thrift store took apart to sell individually. I have told them more than once I'd pay several dollars for an intact postcard book, more than the 5¢ each price they get taking the books apart. Mindy's "paint" job is said to have frightened the neighbor's fox terrier into leaving her alone! I wonder if Mindy even had a fox terrier neighbor?
July brings the new theme of Architecture, with Churches being first next week.
oohh... great wavy lines. That painted cat! The things humans do, but if it scared off the dog, I guess it had a purpose....
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, or fortunately, I just found out the "paint" or dye on the cats was all digitally applied. No mention of that in the info on the cards. Some of them look so real, and mentioned the vegetable dye so no one got worried for the cats!
DeleteI can't imagine a cat standing still to be painted anyway! I like the "waves." What lovely posters they would make.

ReplyDeleteI like the first two. As for the scary cat, it looks like a cross between a cat and a razorback hog. I guess if you need something scary, it works. Maybe it works in the garden, too? Worth a shot, maybe.
