Sunday Stamps - May 24, 2026

Q, that next to hardest letter of the alphabet (X is the hardest).  That's the letter today for Sunday Stamps.

Quail, a common Q.  This is the Gambel's quail, native to the Sonoran desert of the U.S.  Or, it's supposed to be Gambel's quail, but it looks much more like California quail, which I am familiar with.

U.S.A. 1999, part of the Nature of America series.

Quoll, a lesser known Q animal.  Quolls are carnivorous marsupials in Australia and New Guinea. There are six species, four in Australia, two in New Guinea. This is the Spotted-Tail quoll, an Australian type.  I like this stamp, it looks like an underwater scene!
Australia 1997, from the Nocturnal Animals series.  I have another from the series for Y, equally looking like a tide-pool view.

That's it, just the two.
Next week is R, an easier letter for me!

  1. You did very well for Q!! I've made it perhaps easier? by combining the last three letters so you can choose, one, or all, of XYZ. I've heard of quolls, but really didn't know what they looked like, and I've only ever seen quail eggs - so tiny.

    1. Oh! I'll update by scheduled X, Y, and Z posts into one! Since I was doing animals, I actually found X wasn't hard if I used scientific names. I will include all three letters, it would bother me to skip one!

    2. So long as I haven't complicated things for people (I also already have something for each letter, but I know others find it challenging)

    3. It's probably fine. I have a tendency to plan way ahead!

  2. You're right, and quoll is a completely new animal to me. I like the illustration on the stamp (but it seems like a fairy tale animal there!).
