R - The Ranch House

For R I have The Ranch House, my name for this unsigned mid-century (1930s - 1950s) California regional impressionism.  I bought it as a present to myself with a tax refund back when I worked and got tax refunds!  I did pay more than you are used to my paying for art, $89.00.

An R poetry form can be found here.

    1. I love it. The big eucalyptus tree, and the Pacific within view... I have a different painting the ocean like that, and an outbuilding I like to imagine is the one in the middle there. It's not, decades separate the artists.

    1. It does. It makes me miss the smell of the eucalyptus in the Berkeley hills, like in Tilden. That's one of the only places I miss since moving to OR.

    1. Yes, with the eucalyptus. However, this is typical of early CA and mid-century CA paintings. I come from Northern California, and there are lots of eucalyptus, especially in the Oakland/Berkeley hills. A long time ago someone thought they'd grow them for furniture, but the high winds twisted the wood, so that didn't work out, and the trees stayed. The scene here would be along the coast, probably around Carmel or Monterey, or a bit south of that.
