Day 18: Tuesday Treasures - November 18, 2025

St. Vincent de Paul has been putting out their Christmas items.  If I got any you won't find out until my annual Christmas thrift posts!  Those posts include Christmas presents I thrifted.  However, while I was there I happened to run into the manager, and she was a good mood, for when I asked about the antique Christmas postcards she'd been holding back, she brought the box of them from the back for me to go through. 

You'll see some of these next month for Thursday Postcard Hunt when the theme will be  Christmas.  Here's the full pile.

There were even postcards made from California redwood, which are mailable!

I have to add an edit here. Since I wrote this post I've been back to St. Vincent de Paul, and will have a "postcard situation" update next Tuesday.  Let's just say, it's nice to be recognized as the one who buys postcards! 

Each year at St. Vincent de Paul the more ordinary Christmas ornaments are sold in little baggies with one "good" one.  They get too many donated so can't price them individually or even put them out, so the manager does it this way.  One bag had glass items, one broken, but there were these glass candies.  I mention them now because I don't consider them Christmas items.  I have a little dish of them on the bookcase and add more when I find them.   The baggies are 75¢ each. 

I thought this was a cute hand-painted Japanese made mini plate.  I think it was 50¢.

This 3 3/4" bud vase was made in Occupied Japan (1945-1952).  I was surprised to see the mark, as it looks more like the type of pottery and glaze made in the California potteries c.1940s - 1950s.  I think it's adorable!  Of course I do, it has a dog.
