Motley Monday - July 28, 2025

Almost August!  August is my birthday month.  I'm a Leo, but a very poor Leo as far as what we are "supposed" to be like!  A closet Leo maybe, as I do like things done my way.  But, doesn't everyone?  I remember years ago a round-table type thing where we were asked if we had to do something would we "do it the right way, or our way?"  I said, "What if I think my way is the right way?"  I guess that's a Leo attitude.

In the garden.

I found a bird's nest on the ground in the Herb Garden area.

Since I fed the seedling lemon cucumbers and tomatoes they have taken off.  I am disappointed in the Lane's Best Super Natural Potting Soil.  I shouldn't have had to feed the plants so soon after planting them.

No cucumbers on the lemon cucumber plants yet, but lots of flowers.

One Mystery tomato plant is a large type, with the deformed look of an heirloom.   You know, not the perfect round ones.

The other Mystery is a Sungold, so that's good since I like them.  I also have another Sungold.  They are very productive tomatoes!

The woolly apple mint has taken over the Herb Garden, as is does every year.  I started with one tiny plant years ago, and it pops up all over now.  I'm surprised it does so well in summer's full hot sun.  The tiny pollinators love it.

Gladiolas are blooming.

Mickey and I took a walk to the park early this morning, we were home before 8:00.  Lots of inkcap mushroom growing in the new wood chipped areas.  I'll post those for Wordless Wednesday, or a Nearly Wordless Wednesday, this week.  Tomorrow's Tuesday Treasures has a lot of really nice ephemera treasures!  Now I'm off to the Goodwill Outlet (the bins) to see if they have any glass (including pottery, or anything that breaks), more artwork, or mystery novels!

  1. ...that gladiola isn't your average gladiola!

  2. I'm not very Leo, either. (My astrologer told me I was a double Scorpio--moon and ascendant.) I missed August by 9 hours... Happy birthday, upcoming.

  3. Looks amazing!!! Those tomatoes are getting big! We have been busy with kitchen cabinet painting this summer so I haven't spent much time in our garden. Hope you have a great birthday!!!
