Postcrossing's 20th Anniversary

Image
I'm a little late posting for the 20th Anniversary of Postcrossing .  It was the 14th.  In this case, better late than never is appropriate.  We are invited to "... take a special photo featuring you and 20 postcards ."  I chose 20 of the postcards I have received from Postcrossing members from around the world.   I joined May 2, 2024 and have send 39 postcards, and received 40.  There must be one still traveling.  You like getting mail?  You like sending mail?  You like postcards?  Postcrossing is free to join, you just have to get postcards and stamps.  You get the addresses of random people to send postcards to.  I chose international addresses, no USA.  Once your first postcards arrive and the recipients register them (you write a given id number on them), you will start getting postcards. I've gotten cards from China, Belarus, Ukraine, Brazil, Japan, UK, Russia, Germany, and others!  The top one under...

Now that the park renovation is finished (other than the restroom construction set for September), the school area off the blacktop is having something done.  So far there is a square scraped out of the grass, and a big pile of dirt.  They'd better get on it, school starts next month.  Mickey was peeking at the pickleball players.  The arch is a Lappset Sona dance and play arch.  Every time we walk past it startles Mickey by talking.  " Hi there!  Want to play ?" it said this day. There is a lot of new wood chips.  Around the trees, new and old, and around the edges of the grass near the fences.  I guess to make mowing easier, although they'll be kicked around before long, mixed in with the grass.  Not that I mean anyone will do it on purpose, which some might, but just time.  Kids and dogs running, kicking, playing.    New trees and wood chips.  The black fence in the upper left is the new dog park. ...

My son and I went to St. Vincent de Paul for me to check out the "postcard situation."  The only new ones were the 5¢ ones, all Oregon, on a rack where customers wait in line to check out.  This time there were lots of deckle edged from the 1960s.  However, that's not what I want to share.  The manager approached me and asked if I buy other " paper items ," and of course I said I did, as did my son (who had gone out to the car).  She had just priced two big containers of ephemera, including photos, greeting cards, postcards, and more, and offered to let me look through them, even though they wasn't going on the floor yet.  I phoned my son and told him to get back in the store!  Antique Photos ($1.25, $1.00, 75¢) Three 13 1/2" x 10" photos, one here.  Taken in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1952.  The others are scenes from Cologne, Germany, and Sicily. Victorian Calling Cards (packaged up in bundles that came out to less than 25¢ each!) Som...

Almost August!  August is my birthday month.  I'm a Leo, but a very poor Leo as far as what we are "supposed" to be like!  A closet Leo maybe, as I do like things done my way.  But, doesn't everyone?  I remember years ago a round-table type thing where we were asked if we had to do something would we " do it the right way, or our way ?"  I said, " What if I think my way is the right way? "  I guess that's a Leo attitude. In the garden. I found a bird's nest on the ground in the Herb Garden area.  Since I fed the seedling lemon cucumbers and tomatoes they have taken off.  I am disappointed in the Lane's Best Super Natural Potting Soil.  I shouldn't have had to feed the plants so soon after planting them.   No cucumbers on the lemon cucumber plants yet, but lots of flowers. One Mystery tomato plant is a large type, with the deformed look of an heirloom.   You know, not the perfect round ones.  The other Mystery is ...

Skywatch Friday - July 25, 2005

Image
Skywatch Friday This is an oldie.  I'm using it to get this post up so people can "find" me.  I used to be Lisa's Garden Adventure, but I accidentally permanently deleted that blog.  I though I was deleting something else.  This one is still under construction. Golden Gate Bridge  Did you know it spans the Golden Gate Strait? Please come back, my regular weekly posts will be here now.  Tomorrow, Saturday, Shadow Shot Sunday will be up with a Mister Linky for you to join in with a shadow photo.  Come give it a try! Have a nice weekend.

What Used to Be - July 24, 2025

Well, here I am, I don't know how many years after my first post on Lisa's Garden Adventure. And, why don't I know?  Because I was very careless.  Instead of permanently deleting a blog name I'd decided not to use, I deleted Lisa's Garden Adventure!  Permanently.  I thought I'd have 30 or 60, or whatever time period, to change my mind.  Nope.  I'll leave comments on the blogs I visit, adding who I used to be.  Hopefully I can be found again. This is pretty devastating to me.  If this is your first time here, this is who I am and what I post. Lisa Oregon I post about gardening. I post about my thrift store finds on Tuesdays (Tuesday Treasures) because I am a collector of... stuff!  I join in blog hops about stamps and postcards (Sunday Stamps and Thursday Postcard Hunt). Other blog hops throughout the week if I have the photos.  Because, my blog is all about the photos (unlike this post).
