This and That: A Blog

I visit a lot more blogs than my comments seem to suggest.  If you use Wordpress I may be unable to leave a comment.  I used to have an account, and now some Wordpress blogs are set to make me sign in, and even though I no longer have an account Wordpress remembers my email and won't let me continue.  Sorry.  I had that happen with three blogs already today.  

 Some garden stuff, some not garden stuff.   Garden Stuff Morning glories are so pretty. Even a few hours later in the day.  I love how they curl up. This a beneficial true bug, one of the few true bugs I like, that I know of!  It's a Leaf-Hopper Assassin Bug. The Blue-eyed grass has little grasses growing at the top of the old flower stems.  What? This is an example of vegetative continuation or late-season foliar extension.  It was hot for quite some time, very hot.  Some native perennials react to heat and low moisture by shifting energy away from seed production into survival mode.  Blue-eyed grass is a member of the iris family (no, it's not a grass at all), which tend to prefer leaf production over the effort of seed production.  That takes a lot of energy, and the plant senses it may not have time for that, so if no seeds, makes leaves!  I cut them off, leaving one to see what happens.  Non-Garden Stuff We stopped a...
